Over the years, about four to five decades, I have traveled on business or pleasure. These are the few places I have been. Floret, Sea-Tac Airport: It’s time to taste! Take a sip and think about the flavors that hit your tongue. How do they compare or contrast to the smell? What do they remind you of? Remember, it’s okay if what you taste is different from what others taste. It’s also okay if your wine preferences aren’t the same as those around you. Either way, this is your opportunity to identify the tasting notes and to decide whether or not those characteristics are to your liking. The menu changes seasonally (another factor that makes this place stand out among airport dining options) but typically includes fresh, zingy Mexican-inspired dishes like quesadillas, tacos and avocado toast ... read more

You may have guessed that I use the airline lounges whenever possible. Often times, when I have used miles to upgrade to Business Class, a visit to the airline lounge is included. Short of that, I have a Priority Pass, which is part of the Chase Sapphire Visa card program. In moments of true desperation, with lots of time to kill at the airport, I have purchased a lounge pass. Usually, the foreign airlines have better lounges. I would place Singapore, Air New Zealand, and Turkish Air at the top of the lounges I have visited. But lately, some of the US airlines have improved immensely, namely the Admirals Lounges of American Airlines, and United Polaris Lounges. Why? For one, they pour complimentary champagne!! And the food is upgraded. One of my first and best lounge ... read more

My dear husband, who is about turn 50 but was acting 5, woke me up this morning around 3:30am telling me he doesn’t want to go on this trip and he doesn’t want to see Hawaii and he isn’t going. I firmly reminded him that he basically forced me to go to China and I loved it so he’s going to Hawaii and he’s going to love it, too. He mumbled on and on about not going and I got tired of his nonsense and got-up and left the bedroom. I shut the door and finished packing our carry-ons. By the time I was finished, he was snoring and it was 5am. I got in the recliner in the living room and slept for an hour with the dog on my lap. I got up and ... read more

Woke up around 6.30am and had a peak outside and we had already docked in Long Beach. We had to be out of the cabin by 8.30 so off to breakfast we go. Kerry went to the buffet and I had a couple of the special Mexican dishes which are just amazing and I would love to have these back home where it could be a genuine rival to the good old bacon and egg roll. This time I had my eggs over medium which is the way to go to avoid having eggs oozing out over my fingers ! I had some time to take a couple of photos and explored the upper decks around the waterslide and found a quiet private adults area called Serenity on deck 15 which had a couple of jacuzzis ... read more

We flew to LA today. WHY? Because apparently I like things to be difficult and I’m cheap. Flights to LAX from SGF were $85 per person, we are staying at our (former) favorite hotel in LA this evening, and we have free flights to Seattle tomorrow morning. Cruise to Alaska leaves Seattle Sunday So… today…. I woke-up early-early as normal and walked the dog up the hill and back and we both had just decided to slow down when we saw a skunk on Hole 10 and we headed right back down the hill as fast and far away from that part of the golf course as possible. The regular morning of leaving chaos ensued – overpacking, Kamie sleeping in, and me running around like a chicken with my head cutoff. The plan was to leave ... read more

From MSN: But there is one thing I haven’t done. Will not do. Will never do. Will grow angry enough at you to throw spitballs at you if you ask me to do. And that’s move my seat on a plane to accommodate you so that you can sit with your friends or family or concubines or whoever else you’re flying with. Your grandma’s on the flight with you and you want to sit next to her? Granny should’ve taught you to plan ahead. Maybe Granny wants a break from her thoughtless progeny. You ever think about that? Of course not, because you’re thoughtless. You’re separated from your 6-year-old son? Braylin has to learn to fend for himself. Plus, this ain’t Antarctica. It’s an 80-minute, temperature-controlled trip to Albany on a flying couch. He’ll be fine ... read more

The honor of the worst seems to always fall onto Allegiant, Spirit or Frontier. Per Trip Savyy, here are their findings: At the very bottom of the domestic airline rankings are Spirit Airlines (score: 2.5) and Allegiant Air (2.8), both of which are budget carriers. But the third worst U.S. airline is one of the big three: American Airlines. Bounce gave the airline a pretty low score of 4.2; it's still vastly better than Spirit and Allegiant, but far below the top domestic scorer, url=https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripsavvy.com%2F2020-tripsavvy-editors-choice-awards-delta-air-lines-5079728&data=04%7C01%7C%7Cbc461625402c4471ee8c08d9ba52ecba%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637745687594787157%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=8lG0sj7WAcCBU%2B%2FVaVyL3dzE4Q%2BmfrJV6eXD94... read more

Today we finally got to start a cruise vacation which has been in the planning stage for more than a year. Well we didn’t actually get to the cruising part today, but we have left home and got to Los Angeles where we will board the Star Princess tomorrow. But let’s go back and tell this story from the beginning. In planning this trip, we set clear ground rules that no one was to get sick or injured while we were away. In the past couple of cruises there have been a variety of medical issues – none are allowed this trip! I guess we should have included staying healthy leading up to the trip too. Our granddaughter Tessa had a reaction to the stitches they used last week to remove pins from her arm, so ... read more
